Wah-wer

Wah-wer

The other week we drove up to go look at Snoqualmie Falls. I don’t really remember ever being there but it could have happened once upon a time. Maybe in 6th grader on the way to camp Waskowitz for the week? Speaking of 6th grade camp that was a horrible week. Not because the camp was horrible but because I had serious homesickness issues and square dancing issues. Why would you even make 6th graders square dance with a member of the opposite sex? During the square dance the pin from one of my badges got attached to the guy I was dancing with. Mortifying. I’m over it. Obviously.

Ok back on topic. The falls were beautiful! Hunter was in the backpack and the first thing he said when he saw the falls was “wah-wer!!” his word for water. It was a cute moment. I’m thankful for cute moments like that, they help me through the not so cute moments which are difficult and sometimes more frequent. We looked around a bit but were disappointed to find out that the trail down to the river is closed for renovation until 2013. Big bummer. So there wasn’t all that much to look at. Lots of “wah-wer” and mist and such but that was about it.

After the falls we went and “hiked” around Tiger Mountain. I use the term loosely because it was more of a walk through a muddy trail with a slight incline. It was really pretty and it was nice to get out for the morning!

Outside

Outside

Here are a few fun pictures of Hunter playing outside (owww si as he calls it). It is so fun that he is at an age now where he can walk around and do things in the driveway or yard. He really likes collecting sticks, playing with chalk and digging in the dirt. I am really looking forward to summer and spending more time owww si!

Bubbles Bubbles

Bubbles Bubbles

One of Hunters favorite things in life right now is bubbles! He loves loves loves bubbles! He knows the word, the sign language and where to find them in the house. In his Easter Basket this year he received a Sesame Street Babies book called Bubbles Bubbles. He goes and grabs it off the shelf saying “bubble bubble!”. Super duper cute. One place in our house that consistently has bubbles is the bath tub. We always make sure there are lots of bubbles in there – he also knows that is a place inside the house where he can blow bubbles. Here are a few fun pictures from bath time!

Easter

Easter

I am finally getting around to posting some Easter pictures! The day before Easter we went to a church in our neighborhood to do an egg hunt. I had high aspirations for Hunter and we even did a few practice rounds at home before we left. We got to the church and listened to a short message then headed off to the hunt. Hunter was so distracted (unfortunately we didn’t practice with distractions at home) that he didn’t grab for any eggs. I tried to help him and point out eggs but he didn’t care. I put two in his basket just so he could have something.

After the egg hunt there were games to play with prizes. It was such a beautiful day and such fun to see all of the kids playing the games. Hunter still didn’t really understand the games but he tried his best. I am thinking that next year when he is 2.5 he will understand a little more what is going on.

Halloween

Halloween

This year we went to the pumpkin patch in Marysville to find the perfect pumpkins! Unfortunately I don’t think that it was a very good year for pumpkins and all we found was really bumpy ones and green ones. We walked around for a bit and then decided we would have better luck at a little stand down the street from our house.

Patrick and I had a great time carving pumpkins! We realized as we were carving that it was something that we’d never done together. I really like how they turned out!

For Halloween we dressed Hunter up as a hamburger. It was a hilarious costume! The best part was when he started to chew on it. We went over to my parents house in the afternoon to visit and show off his costume, my younger brother was also there so it was fun to visit and catch up.

All in all we had a great Halloween!

Pool Day

Pool Day

This afternoon Hunter and I went to the pool my parents belong to with my mom to do some swimming, it was super fun! Hunter had never been to the pool before unless you count our bathtub. Which really isn’t a pool. He has always liked water except for the time he face planted in the tub with Patrick and I both sitting there. Woops. Don’t know how that happened. Does that disqualify us as parents of the year?

Anyway the pool was so much fun! The second I started moving around with Hunter in the pool he started kicking like a frog it was awesome. I think that he really thought he was propelling himself even though I was doing all of the work. He splashed and kicked for quite awhile it was very fun!

I wish that I had a picture to post but I don’t because I’m lame and forgot the camera. I’m not really a take pictures person. That’s Patrick’s department and he was at work.

Another fun tidbit about my day is that after having the Food Network on all morning I thought I’d try and be fancy by creating my own salad thing for lunch with (gasp) no recipe. It didn’t work out too hot for me. I mixed orzo (rice shaped pasta), white beans, lemon zest, lemon juice, feta cheese, italian dressing, salt and pepper into a bowl. It wasn’t so good. It might have been better with some tomatoes or something. I really shouldn’t experiment. Recipes are created for people like me. I don’t have a picture of this either – if I did you might throw up a little bit in your mouth because not only did it not taste that good but it didn’t look all that good!
